Despues de formatear no me aclaro como poner el metapad en castellano. Alguien sabe q he de hacer con la dll? Y el archivo filters q viene con el metapad q es? donde se instala?

Bueno el programa metapad le cambie el nombre por notepad y lo pegue en la carpeta D:\WINDOWS\system32 entonces al abrir el notepad abre el metapad, claro q en ingles.

Tengo el archivo para cambiarle el idioma mpad35_es_1.dll pero no se donde debo pegar este archivo. Imagino q será alguna carpeta de windows pero no se cual.

Q:  How do I replace notepad under Windows XP?

A:  System File Protection is in full effect.

You can try the following to get around System File Protection. Be very quick or XP will replace the file and it won't work. Make sure you don't have the WinXP CD-ROM in your drive!

   1. Copy metapad renamed as Notepad.exe to the clipboard.
   2. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache (NB: in XP SP2 this has changed to C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386)
   3. Paste the file there.
   4. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32 (using Backspace)
   5. Paste the file there.
   6. QUICKLY! Go back to C:\WINDOWS (another Backspace) and paste the file there.

If you have done this correctly, a message should pop up saying that a bad version of a Windows System file has been installed. Make sure you select 'Keep this file' or a similar option. If it doesn't work, keep trying, because it will. Just do the three pastes very fast.

This method has also been reported but may not work for everyone:

Locate the filelist.xml file in the WINDOWS\system32\Restore folder and back up a copy of it. Open this file in Notepad and look in this section:

        <Exclude>
            <REC>%windir%\system.ini</REC>
            <REC>%windir%\tasks\desktop.ini</REC>
            <REC>%windir%\win.ini</REC>
            <REC>*:\AUTOEXEC.BAT</REC>
            <REC>*:\CONFIG.MSI</REC>
            <REC>*:\CONFIG.SYS</REC>
        </Exclude>
 

Add the line:

            <REC>%windir%\notepad.exe</REC>

to the list of Excluded files. Now you should be able to overwrite notepad.exe.

Update: As of metapad 3.5 Windows XP's visual styles are natively supported (i.e., the buttons and stuff will match the theme you have). See this image for an example (using the CoughDrop theme that comes with StyleXP). Be sure to enable the classic toolbar to get the full effect.

Gracias Tibur eso ya lo había mirado pero sólo entendí como instalar el metapad y no lo de ponerlo en castellano.

De todas formas gracias a Miyu ya lo he conseguido. Sólo debía abrir el metapad, ir a Options - Settings - Advanced2 -  Language plugin  - y buscar la   dll q lo traduce.
